Often items that have been thrown away can be found next to the roadside bins. This is a typical Greek chair seen in homes and tavernas. I rescued three and decided to up-cycle them with as little expense as possible for my garden.
The bottom of the legs needed sawing off a little where they had got wet and started to rot. All the old flaky paint needed sanding. The chair was then glued and screwed to strengthen it and then treated with a worming chemical solution to prevent woodworm.

I painted the chair in a typical Greek blue paint. (you can use paint left over from another project)
I weaved a natural upholstery webbing and stapled it underneath the chair to make a new seat. This was considerably cheaper than buying natural rope to weave.
Plenty of relaxing coffee life left in these chairs now.
Be creative and make a chair into a bedside table instead by screwing wood onto the seat area or place a square rimmed plant pot in the seat area for a lovely floral display.
