Make draw string bags for shopping

I am passionate about doing my little bit to save the planet. Most of us have now accomplished taking our own bag for life to the supermarket. But I am frustrated when choosing loose fruit and veg to have to pick a plastic bag of the roll to put it in, to be weighed by the cashier. So I challenge everyone to make their own draw string bags from left over mosquito netting and string/wool.

Cut bag to required size.

Double stitch along the edges for strength. I used a machine but you can double thread hand back stitch.

Double fold the top opening of the bag and stitch....leaving a gap to thread string through using a small safety pin.

Tie both loose ends of string. Keep with your shopping bag.

Net bags can also be used to dry herbs in or place smaller items in your washing machine.
