Tina, originally the owner of a tearoom and vintage store in the UK, has lived and immersed herself into the Greek way of life for the last 5 years, integrating and settling in a small mountain village. 
With a love of art and design she has renovated two traditional stone cottages, embraces simplistic, healthy, sustainable living and Greek cultural traditions and delivers a wide variety of craft workshops creating recycled/upcycled furniture, natural gifts and décor for the home.

Ainat has extensive knowledge of arts and creativity as an art director for TV and films and interior designer, previously living, working and studying in New York City, moving to Lefkada, Greece in 2019. 

Living an eco friendly, healthier lifestyle, and exploring the simplicity of the island for the last four years, Ainat has discovered many wonderfully talented artisans. Inspired by wishing to bring the worlds of art and nature together and to share this holistic slower pace of life with others, Ainat has created two charming retreats.

Both retreat options include:
  • Six nights/7 days, single or double room occupancy in traditional family run boutique accommodation. (Single occupancy supplements will be charged).

On the retreat workshops you will meet;

Tina - her motto, Recycle, Re-use, Re-think, artistically uses recycled materials such as driftwood, paper, stones, wool, and textiles. 

You will participate in relaxing workshops that inspire you to engage in regular hobby handicrafts at home. Elements of small pastime crafts such as crochet, slow stitching, quilling, book folding, flower pressing, and painting techniques are relaxing, enhance cognitive health, improve dexterity and emotional wellbeing.   



 

Aris - has a plethora of knowledge with regards culinary and medicinal plants to enhance general health and wellbeing.

You will be wandering through flora in the tranquility of this glorious mountain area, foraging for nutritious berries, herbs and wild flowers, learning about their healthy properties. Visiting Aris's workshop/apotheke he will demonstrate his processes with an opportunity to purchase homemade tinctures and creams. 




Aitaro - this established workshop situated in a mountainous village transports you back in time.

Here you will meet the collective women who are passionate about textile arts; using the traditional weaving loom they will demonstrate how to make your own sample/placemat. The objective is to embody cultural tradition, safekeep and transmit the knowledge and skills of past self sufficiency and handmade techniques. Unique original handmade products are also available to purchase. 


Sylvia - is an international artist living on Lefkada island for 7 years, building and designing a home from a complete stone ruin. Silvia produces creative art inspired by the use of natural materials taken from nature in her local surroundings. 

You will be collecting clay directly from the land, creating vegetable dyes, using charcoal and natural foliage to create art that will be returned to nature afterwards. Being at harmony with nature you will have the opportunity to experience natural activities such as strolling and resting amongst nature and swimming in a natural river.  

Kalliope - cultivates her own flowers in the mountain village of Alexandros and using the natural slow cold process saponification method to make olive oil soaps, also natural shampoos, deodorant creams, and toothpaste. 

You will be participating in a natural soap making workshop, customizing it with your personal choice of herbal extracts, clays and dry plant material taking home your handmade organic soap.

 

Walking the path of a local Greek.

During your stay on Lefkada island you will take the journey of local villagers meandering, discovering captivating gems throughout the mountains, villages and olive groves; Fresh goats milk, cheese, seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables in gardens, foraging for herbs and wild flowers, fresh fish from local waters, tasting locally harvested olive oil and wines and frequenting village tavernas, Greek Orthodox churches and local museums. 

  

 Accommodation

Setting the tone for your time here you will be staying in 19th Century traditional Greek style stone house accommodation, nestled in a mountain village. The restored authentic simplicity of stone walls and shutters mixed with elegant modern comforts and antique objects provide a homely haven. Surrounded by mountainous views, foliage, peace and tranquility the charm of the accommodation is captivating, giving you a dreamy start and end to each day.

 

 

The ZAGORI retreat is situated in this majestic mountainous region on mainland Greece, where  cobbled stone villages nestle, cattle roam free, and the views are breathtaking.

On the retreat workshops you will meet;

Tasos - A tourist guide by profession, Tasos is also our welcoming hotel host. With a plethora of knowledge on plants, bees, monasteries and stone bridges etc, we will be exploring the local landscape on foot, divulging paths and natural treasures according to the seasons.

 



Lana - is living as a local Greek villager who owns goats and sheep. Working at home with a traditional loom and spinning wheel, surrounded many old Greek artifacts. 
Here you will use natural wool and learn the art of felting to create an object you can take home. 
Lunch will be a delight of homemade produce. 



Kostas and Anna - Step into a warm aromatic traditional family bakery set in an active village. Under the expert guidance of Kostas, a Master Baker /Artisan you will discover the art of crafting authentic local delicacies. During this hands-on experience you will learn the secrets of traditional Greek recipes, discover authentic flavours and of course partake in a mouthwatering lunch of your freshly made products.

You will be staying in a warm and inviting boutique guesthouse, idyllically set above a pretty traditional mountain village on the edge of the majestic Vikos Gorge. With breathtaking views and the serenity and tranquility of the setting you are assured a peaceful and restful stay.
